Pet Idol

Client: Evening Times (Newsquest)

Brief: The Evening Times is Scotland’s best read evening newspaper and had decided to launch a summer competition for its readers called ‘Pet Idol’. The premise was that reader would submit pictures of their pet to be published in the paper and the pet with the most votes won (as judged by readers).

A series of low budget TV commercials with a strong call-to-action were required, to raise awareness and generate entries. It had to in keeping with the light-hearted nature of the competition and the friendly image of the newspaper.

End Result: I imagined that the pets would take a similar route to that of politicians canvassing for votes in an election. I then developed a range of comedic cameos in and around Glasgow which we filmed and edited into 3 different commercials for various stages of the competition.
